What is Citizens on Patrol (C.O.P.)?

C.O.P. is an organized groups of citizens who volunteer their time to patrol their communities.  
COP patrols are observers only as they serve as an extension of the police department’s eyes and ears.  They may drive, bike or walk around the community looking, listening, and reporting criminal and suspicious activity, or needs for emergency assistance, to the police. They do not carry weapons, or confront persons engaged in criminal or suspicious activity.
